🏷️

Auto-tagging

Let HalfLight surface the recurring symbols and themes in your dreams, then watch your personal dream-language emerge.

🎙️

Voice dictation

Too groggy to type? Speak the dream aloud and on-device speech-to-text writes it down before it fades.

🌙

Lucid path

A guided, step-by-step lesson map covering reality checks and the MILD, WBTB & WILD induction methods.

📈

Progress & streaks

XP, levels, ranks, weekly quests, journaling streaks, achievements, and a per-year activity grid keep the habit alive.

AI assists

Understand the dream, not just record it

Every entry can be read back to you with the help of Claude. Three taps, three different lenses on the same dream — all running through a secure backend so the model never sees more than it needs.

  • Analyze with AI — a category plus a short, careful interpretation.
  • Auto-tag — theme and symbol tags pulled straight from your words.
  • Generate title — a fitting name for the dream in one tap.
  • Private by design — API keys stay server-side; AI runs only when you're signed in.

How it works

From half-asleep to fully understood

Three small steps, repeated each morning, that compound into real recall — and eventually, lucidity.

01

Capture

The moment you wake, open HalfLight and dump the dream — type it or speak it. The faster you log, the more you keep.

02

Understand

Let the AI title, tag, and interpret it. Your dream becomes searchable, structured, and a little less mysterious.

03

Practice

Work through the lucid lessons and reality-check challenges. Night by night, your awareness in dreams grows.

Questions

Good to know

Is lucid dreaming actually real?+
Yes. It's a studied state first verified in a sleep lab in 1975, where a dreaming volunteer signaled awareness using pre-agreed eye movements while still in REM. About half of people have had a lucid dream at least once by accident — HalfLight just helps you do it on purpose.
Do I need the AI features to get value?+
Not at all. The journal, lucid lessons, streaks, and progress tracking are completely free. The AI interpretation, auto-tagging, and title generation are the Pro additions for dreamers who want extra insight.
How private are my dreams?+
Your dreams live on your device first and sync to a private, row-level-secured space only when you sign in. AI requests run through a secure backend — the API keys never ship in the app, and AI only runs when you ask it to.
Can I use HalfLight without an account?+
Yes — you can journal locally right away. Signing in with email or Apple adds cloud backup and sync across devices. You can also permanently delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
What platforms are supported?+
HalfLight is a native iOS app built with SwiftUI, including a home-screen widget. iPhone is the primary experience today.

The dream is already fading.

Start your journal tonight. Tomorrow morning, you'll be glad you did.
